Why Live in Monticello?

The city of Monticello is home to a growing community of just under 14,000 people. Located about 50 minutes northwest of Minneapolis, Monticello offers a good balance between small-town and city living.

With easy access to Interstate 94, businesses of all kinds quickly moved in after the City constructed a new high school and a highway interchange in the early 2000s. Growing families meant growing schools which is why Monticello High School is the third-largest school in Wright County.

The City has an extensive parks system that includes 32 city-owned parks with miles of trails and scenic views. Most notably is Swan Park where nearly 3,000 trumpeter swans nest on the Mississippi River between December and March. Another notable feature in Monticello is the Bertram Chain of Lakes. This 1,200-acre open space includes four lakes and endless opportunities for swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and so much more.
